ICW's Hopes Regarding Firli Bahuri Are Not Realized By The Police
JAKARTA - The National Police have decided not to process the complaint from Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) regarding the alleged gratuity by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. Bareskrim is currently processing the return of the complaint file.
Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said the complaint file would be submitted to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas). Currently, the team is working on it.
"It has been processed (return of documents)," Rusdi told reporters, Monday, June 7.
The return of the complaint documents was because the National Police assessed that the alleged gratification case had already been handled by the KPK (Dewas). Thus, the problem was resolved internally.
"The consideration is that the Criminal Investigation Agency considers that what was reported was processed internally," said Rusdi.
However, Rusdi did not explain in detail when he was asked about the reasons for the complaint from ICW. However, the complaint is criminal.
He only said that because the complaint contained a criminal element, the report had to be investigated. However, there were certain considerations, so it was decided to submit the complaint document to the KPK Council.
"Once again, we all uphold the presumption of innocence, if all kinds of things are reported, there needs to be an investigation, whether or not there is a crime against the reports submitted, so further investigation is needed," he said.
With this statement, ICW hopes that the Police will investigate the alleged gratification. In fact, the Police have also indicated that they will not follow up on the complaint.
A day after ICW submitted the complaint, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Department, Komjen Agus Andriyanto, said he would submit the ICW complaint document to the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas). Police, said Agus, did not want to be involved in the matter.
"We'll just return it to the Council. It's been handled (in the ethics trial)," said Komjen Agus.
In addition, Komjen Agus said that currently the National Police will focus on preventing the spread of COVID-19. Then, help the economic recovery which continues to decline during the pandemic.
"Don't pull the Police. Right now we are focusing on handling health impacts and recovering the national economy and investment," said Agus.
Meanwhile, ICW filed a complaint against Firli Bahuri to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on June 3. The complaint was found because of the alleged helicopter rental gratuity. This is because the information regarding the helicopter rental fee is different from Firli's statement.
ICW researcher Wana Alamsyah said that while this matter was still in the ethical trial stage at the Supervisory Board (Dewas), Firli said the hourly helicopter rental price was around Rp. 7 million. So for a 4 hour rental, the bill to be paid is around IDR 30.8 million.
"But then we got other information from other service providers, that the hourly rental price is USD 2,750, or around IDR 39.1 million," said Wana.
"For us, there is a total of Rp. 172.3 million which Firli has to pay in relation to the helicopter rental," he continued.
Thus, according to ICW, there is a difference between Firli's confession and the information obtained.
