JAKARTA - The recovery of KRL services on the Bekasi-Cikarang line has begun to show progress.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI stated that the first operational trial had been successfully carried out safely after the process of evacuating facilities and infrastructure was carried out gradually.

KAI's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, said on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11.55 WIB, the CL-125.4008 trial train series had passed through Bekasi Timur Station as part of cross-line readiness testing.

"This trial is an important part of ensuring the readiness of infrastructure, signaling, and safety aspects before the service resumes. The entire process is carried out carefully by prioritizing safety," Anne said in an official statement, Wednesday, April 29.

He said that operational recovery was carried out gradually following the results of evaluation and testing in the field.

"KAI emphasizes that operational recovery will be carried out gradually in accordance with the results of evaluation and testing that ensure all aspects of safety are met," he explained.

In the midst of this recovery process, Anne continued, the main focus remains on handling the victims.

Until now, a total of 107 victims have been recorded, consisting of 16 deaths and 91 injuries.

Of these, 43 passengers have been allowed to go home, while the rest are still undergoing treatment at the hospital.

"We express our deepest condolences to all the victims and their families. Our focus right now is to ensure that all victims receive the best treatment and that families receive the information they need," said Anne.

KAI also ensures that the victim's belongings found at the location will be recorded and returned gradually to the family through a coordinated mechanism.

"To support information needs, KAI has activated a post at two locations, namely at Bekasi Timur Station to help the victims' families, and at Gambir Station to serve affected long-distance train customers, including the ticket refund process," he said.
