Fadli Zon Confirms the Supervisory Board of the BLU Museum, Cultural Heritage to Pass the Governance Test

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon has confirmed the Supervisory Board of the Public Service Agency or BLU Museum and Cultural Heritage. This confirmation marks a new test of cultural heritage management: it is not enough to just be cared for, museums and cultural heritage must also be managed transparently, professionally, and provide public benefits.

The inauguration took place at the Ministry of Culture Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 28. Fadli said museums and cultural heritages store the long traces of the nation's journey, ranging from the history of civilization, the formation of national identity, to important milestones that shape Indonesia today.

"In our museums and cultural heritages, there are traces of the history of the Indonesian nation, the history of past civilizations, the dynamics of the formation of national identity, and the important milestones that shape our Indonesia today," said Fadli.

According to Fadli, the flow of changes in time makes the role of museums and cultural heritages more important. Both must not stop as a storage space for historical objects. Museums must be a center of education, a public memory space, as well as part of the cultural economy.

He said that public interest in history and culture continues to grow. The increasing trend of visits to museums is considered to open up opportunities for the cultural industry. However, this opportunity requires stronger governance.

"The management of museums and cultural heritages is not merely administrative, but also becomes part of the ecosystem of preserving history and national identity," said Fadli.

Therefore, he assessed that the BLU Supervisory Board has an important role. They must maintain accountability, provide strategic direction, and encourage the management of museums and cultural heritage to be more independent.

The confirmed Supervisory Board consists of Muhammad Asrian Mirza as chairman. Its members are Sitie Indrawati Djojohadikusumo, Linda Djuwita Djalil, Tamalia Alisjahbana, and Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara.

Fadli also linked this step with the mandate of Article 32 Paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution regarding the obligation of the state to advance national culture. He said the Ministry of Culture, under the government of President Prabowo Subianto, is committed to preserving cultural heritage so that it remains alive and accessible to the public.

"We will use this momentum as a starting point to build a BLU governance that is increasingly accountable," said Fadli.
