Antasyafi Robby Contributes the First Medal for Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Beach Games
JAKARTA - The branch of the sport of rock climbing presented the first medal for Indonesia at the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026. The medal was presented by Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi who won silver in the men's speed event.
Robby's journey, the nickname of Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi, is quite dynamic in winning the silver medal. The match started from the qualifying round which took place on Tuesday morning, April 28, 2026, where he recorded a time of 4.94 seconds and ranked seventh in the qualifying round ranking.
"Actually my performance from the qualifiers was less than satisfactory because of the four attempts, I missed three times. I'm sure I can get back in the final and thank God I can get silver," said Robby.
The record ensures Robby's qualification to the last 16. Robby then met Shuto Fujino (Japan). He narrowly beat Shuto after recording a time of 4.89 seconds.
In the last eight, Robby defeated another Japanese representative, Ryo Omasa, with a time of 4.98 seconds. Before advancing to the final, he first eliminated Rishat Khaibulin (Kazakstan) in the semifinals with a time of 4.81 seconds.
Robby then met Zhao Yicheng (China) in the final. Unfortunately, he made a false start so that Zhao was entitled to the gold medal for the men's cliff climbing Asian Beach Games 2026.
However, the 2026 Asian Beach Games provided a valuable lesson for Robby. The 18-year-old athlete felt proud despite being a little disappointed because he admitted to making several mistakes in the match that made him fail to win a gold medal.
"I am very happy with the competition in Sanya, the weather is good, the people, the culture is also friendly. Moreover, this is my first competition in the Asian Beach Games."
"In the future, I want to be more patient and more focused. Next, I want to be the world champion in the future," said Robby.
Meanwhile, another male cliff climber, Raharjati Nursamsa, stopped in the last eight. Aditya Tri Syahria and Ramaski Aswin Kristanto stopped in the last 16.
Shifting to the women's sector, the steps of Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi, Puja Lestari, and Kadek Adi Asih also had to stop in the last eight. Meanwhile, Amanda Narda Mutia was eliminated in the last 16.
This victory makes Indonesia win one silver medal and be ranked 17th on the medal table as of April 28, 2026.
Furthermore, the cliff climbing team will undergo the speed relay number match on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, as well as Indonesia's last appearance at the 2026 Asian Beach Games Sanya.
On the other hand, the Chef de Mission of Indonesia for the Asian Beach Games Sanya 2026, Krisna Bayu, appreciated Robby's performance who had given the first medal for the Red-White.
According to him, Robby has great potential to become an accomplished athlete at the international level in the future.
"Robby is still young. With him being able to win a medal at this Asian Beach Games, it shows that he has the opportunity to achieve even higher in the future," said CdM Krisna Bayu.
"Indonesia always needs young generations who can make Indonesia proud. Robby is proof that the younger generation can make Indonesia's name heard on the international stage," said the judo Olympian.
