Minister of Communication and Information Urges the Public to be Careful in Posting Sensitive Content of Victims of Train Collision

JAKARTA - The Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, appealed to the public to be careful in uploading and disseminating content, both photos and videos, related to the collision incident of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train with the commuter line (KRL) in East Bekasi.

"This disaster is very distressing, yes, both for the families of the victims and also, yes, all of us. So, of course, we are calling for it, no one is taking advantage of a disaster like this," said Meutya when met at the Komdigi office on Tuesday, April 28.

Meutya also asked all parties not to take advantage of the current situation to spread false information or hoaxes, which would bring trauma to survivors and the families of victims.

"Especially to spread hoaxes or false news. The second, even if it is not true, then repeat it so that this causes psychological trauma, possibly for the victim's family or the victim, because the victim is still there who is now being treated in the hospital," he continued.

Meutya also added, "So, we really urge that the screening of railway accident events that are not necessary, please do not spread it irresponsibly."

The accident began on Monday, April 27 at night when the Green SM electric taxi broke down at the JPL 85 Ampera crossing and was tempered by the KRL towards Cikarang-Bekasi. As a result, the KRL series towards Jakarta-Cikarang was held up until it was finally hit by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train from behind.

Meanwhile, the Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency (BP) who is also Danantara's COO, Dony Oskaria said that the government would conduct a thorough evaluation of the national railway operations, especially the safety aspect.
