Age Limit for PJJ Registration of Children Not Attending SchoolAccording to the Head of the Special Education and Special Education Service (PKPLK) Working Team of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemdikdasmen) Budi Priantoro, the provisions on the age limit for the PJJ list of out-of-school children will follow the provisions of formal schools, namely at least 16 years old and a maximum of 18 years old when applying.
"If formal education, the maximum they are registered in class 10 is a maximum of 18 years," said Budi in BSD, Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, April 23, 2026.
This is aimed at ensuring that the standardization of higher education is maintained even though the method of learning is carried out remotely (remote learning).
For out-of-school children who want to participate in this program, they can apply directly on the page that is being provided or to the school that is the parent school.
However, the school will still pick up the ball to the homes of children who do not go to school.
For information, the government has appointed 20 schools in various provinces and one Indonesian School Abroad (SILN) as a parent school.
The parent schools will be in the areas of North Sumatra, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Jambi, Riau Islands, DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Special Region of Yogyakarta, East Java.
Next, South Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, and Gorontalo.
Later, the implementation of PJJ will be carried out with a synchronous and asynchronous system, where 70 percent of learning is done with teaching materials or modules, and the rest is done with online face-to-face sessions to discuss difficult material with teachers.
The PJJ program will be made flexible so that students who have to work or help their parents can continue to follow the learning without being bound by the rigid schedule of formal schools.
