The Government is Accelerating the Development of Bokoharjo Access to Ratu Boko Tourism Area
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) together with PT Jasa Marga (Persero) has accelerated the construction of the Bokoharjo access on the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulonprogo Toll Road Prambanan-Purwomartani segment to support connectivity to the Ratu Boko cultural tourism area.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the construction of toll roads not only serves as a transportation infrastructure, but also as a driver of economic growth and regional equity.
"The construction of toll roads always has a strategic meaning, not only for physical infrastructure, but also for strengthening the foundation of the national economy," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Tuesday, April 28.
The Bokoharjo access is designed as a direct entry route to the Ratu Boko Palace Site in Bokoharjo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman Regency.
The existence of this access is expected to reduce traffic density on the Yogyakarta-Solo national route, which has been the main route to tourist destinations, especially during the holiday season.
The development of access is carried out through a route from the Purwomartani Toll Gate (GT) along about 1.95 kilometers which leads directly to the Bokoharjo and Ratu Boko areas.
The access is targeted to be functional in the Christmas 2026 and New Year 2027 period, as well as supporting operational readiness during the 2027 Lebaran homecoming flow.
Currently, construction work is being carried out in stages. The construction of the U-turn is estimated to take 6 months to 7 months.
Meanwhile, work related to the railway crossing is projected to last 9 to 10 months with coordination with PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI.
Based on data as of April 15, 2026, the construction progress of the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulonprogo Toll Road on the Prambanan-Purwomartani segment has reached 94.8 percent.
The progress of land acquisition has reached 90 percent and is targeted to be completed in August 2026.
The PU Ministry stated that the construction of the infrastructure still takes into account the existence of historical areas and cultural heritages in DIY, including the area around the Keraton Ratu Boko Site, with an approach that takes into account the aspect of preservation.
Currently, the Solo-Yogyakarta-NYIA Kulonprogo Toll has been operating from the Colomadu Toll Gate (GT) to Klaten along 22.3 kilometers.
The government hopes that the acceleration of access to Bokoharjo can increase connectivity to the tourist area, encourage tourist visits and open new economic opportunities for local people.
