BMW Releases M2 RR Edition and Two Special Superbikes, Only 10 Units Produced
BMW, known as a world-class sports car and superbike manufacturer, but rarely brings together the car and motorcycle divisions in one project. Now, the German manufacturer is presenting a unique collaboration through a special edition of the M2 Coupe as well as the S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR superbike which are only marketed exclusively in South Africa.
Launching from Carscoops, Tuesday, April 28, the first model is the latest version of the BMW M2 which is named RR Edition. This car looks exclusive with a coat of Black Sapphire Metallic.
BMW mounts the M Performance suspension which lowers the car's height by 20 mm, as well as 20-inch Jet Black M Performance wheels in the front and 21-inch in the back to strengthen the sporty character. Visual changes are also significant.
The front now carries a new splitter with red accents, while in the back there is a new diffuser. BMW also added a smooth roof spoiler and a fixed rear wing with red lines.
Although the wing design could trigger a debate about aesthetics on the M2, the appearance is clearly more aggressive than the standard version. Not only the exterior, the improvement also targets other sectors.
This car is equipped with an Akrapovic exhaust, sunroof, and interior with a black and red color combination on the seats. Production of the M2 RR Edition is limited to only 10 units, with five units available in a six-speed manual transmission and the other five using an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, the official price has not been announced by BMW.
On the two-wheeled side, the BMW S 1000 RR M2 Edition carries the Black Storm Metallic color with a touch of red on the front fairing and passenger seat cover.
Red accents are also visible on the rims, combined with dark tinted glass. Meanwhile, the BMW M 1000 RR as the most extreme variant comes in a similar color, combined with red-accented carbon fiber rims.
Both have also been equipped with Akrapovic exhausts to improve performance and sound. In line with the M2 RR Edition, both superbike models are also produced very limited, each only 10 units. For the price, the special edition S 1000 RR is priced at 24,600 US dollars, while the M 1000 RR is sold at a price of 53,400 US dollars.
