Luhut Flies To China, Attends Tete-a-Tete Event With Minister Wang Yi
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan made a working visit to China to attend the Tete-a-Tete (meeting between two people) which was followed by the signing of the MoU Establishing a High Level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. China Wang Yi, Saturday 5 June.
The signing of the MoU officially marks the establishment of a High Level Dialogue and Cooperation Mechanism (HDCM) between the two countries. In the agreement, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia and the Chinese Foreign Minister acted as Co-Chair of HDCM.
"I believe we can continue to strengthen mutually beneficial relations in order to improve the welfare of the people of both countries, both now and in the future," Luhut said in an official statement in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Monday, June 7.
Through the meeting, both parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in dealing with developments in global conditions, strategic issues, and global challenges.
"In carrying it out, we prioritize the spirit of the same fate and we hope to build mutual (equal) and better cooperation between Indonesia and China," said Wang Yi.
During the meeting, several strategic topics of the two countries were discussed, ranging from politics and security, health, synergy and strategy for developing priority cooperation projects, trade and economy, investment, as well as maritime and aeronautics.
Several thematic meeting sessions were also held with the Chinese government and the private sector to discuss several cooperation programs and projects to be implemented by both parties.
Luhut was accompanied by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir, Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil, Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Harbuwono, and Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to China Dino R. Kusnadi during the visit.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy for Infrastructure and Transportation Coordination, Ayodhia Kalake, the Deputy for Investment and Mining Coordination, Septian Hario Seto, and the Special Advisor to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jona Widhagdo Putri.
