KNKT Investigates the Collision of the KRL and Argo Bromo Train at Bekasi Timur Station
JAKARTA - The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) is investigating the collision of the KRL and Argo Bromo train in East Bekasi on Monday evening, April 27, 2026.
KNKT Chairman Soerjanto Tjahjono said his party had sent an investigation team from Monday evening until Tuesday morning to uncover the cause of the accident.
"Since last night, three of our investigators have been in the field," he told the media, Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
According to him, the investigator team is collecting initial data and tracing the cause of the incident from the scene. However, the KNKT has not opened the interim results because the investigation process is still intensive.
"If there is any information that can be conveyed, we will immediately announce it," he said.
Previously, train travel in the East Bekasi area was disrupted after an incident occurred at the Bekasi Timur Station embankment on Monday evening. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) ensures that the evacuation process is still ongoing.
The incident occurred at around 20.52 WIB at KM 28+920. The incident involved the PLB 5568A series (CL KPB-CKR) which was tempered by PLB 4B or Argo Bromo Anggrek train in the Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi relationship.
As a result of the incident, train travel operations on the line were affected and disrupted.
It is recorded that as many as 81 passengers who were injured have been evacuated and treated at nine hospitals. The handling is focused on the East Bekasi area.
Meanwhile, in the incident, seven passengers were declared dead.
