Argo Bromo and KRL Collision Impact, Bekasi Timur Station Temporarily Closes Passenger Service

BEKASI - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) confirmed that the Bekasi Timur Station, West Java, will temporarily not serve passenger boarding and disembarking activities. This policy was taken following a serious operational incident that occurred in the area on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.

VP Corporate Communication KAI, Anne Purba, apologized for the travel disruption experienced by customers. He emphasized that currently the company's main priority is the evacuation and recovery process at the scene.

"We apologize to all customers for the inconvenience. Currently, our main focus is on handling on-site and ensuring that safety and service for customers are still met," said Anne as quoted by ANTARA.

As a temporary solution, Anne suggested that prospective passengers who were going to use Bekasi Timur Station to switch to Bekasi Station until further notice. Until now, the operation of travel to the Bekasi cross is still undergoing adjustments in line with the handling process in the field.

KAI continues to coordinate with various parties to accelerate the recovery of services. The latest information regarding operational conditions will be periodically communicated through the company's official channels.

At the scene, the rescue process was dramatic. Head of Basarnas Mohammad Syafii revealed that as of Tuesday morning at 05.53 WIB, as many as three passengers were reported to still be trapped inside the train car. The joint SAR team had to work in turns using heavy extrication equipment to cut the iron of the KRL series.

Syafii explained that the team in the field must move with great caution because the space inside the car is very narrow, considering that part of the Argo Bromo Anggrek train head entered the KRL series. Due to limited space, only a maximum of 25 SAR officers and medical personnel can enter the car at the same time.

This fatal incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026 evening, around 20.55 WIB. The accident involved the Argo Bromo Anggrek train (KA 4) route Gambir - Surabaya Pasar Turi which collided with a series of KRL at Bekasi Timur Station (BKST).
