Police Still Handling the Accident of the Agro Bromo Anggrek Train Hitting the Commuter Line in East Bekasi
BEKASI - The Directorate of Traffic of the Metro Jaya Police is still handling the train accident in the East Bekasi area on Monday evening at around 20.50 WIB.
"Currently, personnel from the Bekasi Police Satlantas are still in the process of handling the train accident in the East Bekasi area," said Head of Operational Development of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Police, Kompol Robby Hefados, when confirmed, Monday evening.
Robby added that the accident involved the Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the Gambir-Surabaya route with the KRL in the East Bekasi area.
"The incident that occurred made the train line temporarily unable to be crossed," he said as quoted by Antara.
He also mentioned the heavy traffic around the crime scene. Currently, members of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Police along with the Satlantas of the Bekasi City Metro Police are making efforts to provide passage for ambulances heading to the crime scene to pick up the victims.
"There is no traffic engineering, we just prioritize the ambulance lane that carries accident victims so that they can be launched to the nearest referral hospital," said Robby.
He said the complete chronology had not been obtained. His party could only get initial information and it was still being developed.
A number of passengers were injured in the accident between the Commuter Line Train and the Disel Train (KRD) at the East Bekasi Station.
Based on the information obtained, the CommuterLine is stopping on line 1 towards Cikarang or east. A moment later, a long-distance train from the west entered the same line and immediately hit the CommuterLine.
"CommuterLine was destroyed in the back. We were all immediately evacuated by officers," said a survivor, Heri, at the location.
Until 21.50 WIB, officers and the public were still evacuating passengers. A number of passengers who had been evacuated were injured and unconscious.
