Many Passengers Stuck Due to Commuter Line Accident at Bekasi Timur Station, Basarnas Evacuated
JAKARTA - A total of 25 Basarnas rescue personnel were deployed to the location of the fatal train accident at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday, April 27, evening.
"The rescue personnel deployed consisted of the Jakarta SAR Office, the Bekasi SAR Standby Unit, and the Basarnas Special Group," said Humas Jakarta SAR Office, Ramli Prasetio to VOI.
The rescue team will carry out the evacuation process for a number of victims who are trapped inside the commuter line train and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train.
"We have prepared equipment for extrication and collapsed structure search and rescue," he said.
Based on monitoring, the evacuation process continues to be carried out by the Basarnas rescue team and personnel from other agencies. The evacuation process is focused on the commuter train area.
"Information on developments will be reported again after focusing on the implementation of SAR operations and evacuation of victims," he said.
Ramli said that currently additional Basarnas rescue personnel are also heading to the location for assistance in the evacuation process of the victims.
"Meanwhile, currently the personnel from Bekasi are focusing on rescue and evacuation efforts for the victims," he said.
Previously reported, the commuter line train between Kampung Bandan (KPB) - Cikarang (CKR) was hit by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train between Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi) at Bekasi Timur Station, KM 28+920 on Monday, April 27, evening.
The incident was reported to have occurred at around 20.52 WIB. This incident took many injured victims from commuter line passengers.
"Currently, PT KAI together with the police are carrying out the process of evacuating the train series and handling the victims at the scene," said KAI Public Relations Manager for Jakarta Railway Station 1, Franoto Wibowo to VOI.
As a result of the accident, train operations on the track were disrupted.
