Commuter Line Hit by Argo Bromo Anggrek Train at Bekasi Station, Many Victims Injured

JAKARTA - The Kampung Bandan (KPB) - Cikarang (CKR) commuter line train was hit by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train from Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi at Bekasi Timur Station, KM 28+920 on Monday, April 27, evening.

The incident was reported to have occurred at around 20.52 WIB. This incident took many injured victims from commuter line passengers.

"Currently, PT KAI together with the police are carrying out the process of evacuating the train series and handling the victims at the scene," said KAI Public Relations Manager for Jakarta Railway Station 1, Franoto Wibowo to VOI.

As a result of the accident, train operations on the track were disrupted.

"We are trying our best so that railway travel operations can return to normal as soon as possible," he said.

Franoto apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused. KAI ensures that officers in the field have moved quickly to handle and secure the location.

KAI also said it had coordinated with relevant parties to expedite the evacuation and recovery process.

"As a security measure, the upper current flow (LAA) on the Cibitung-Bekasi Timur crossing and the Bekasi Timur emplasemen are temporarily disabled," he said.

The cause of the incident and the number of train trips affected are still under investigation and further data collection.
