Iranian Revolutionary Guards Claim to Neutralize More than 15 US Heavy Missiles
JAKARTA - The Imam Sajjad Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) public relations office in Hormozgan Province announced the discovery and neutralization of more than 15 American heavy missiles during the latest conflict that broke out last February.
The IRGC's detection and taming unit "successfully found and neutralized more than 15 heavy missiles belonging to the enemy during the recent forced war," the office said in a statement, according to IRNA (27/4).
Further, it is said that the ammunition is mostly advanced types made in the US, including GBU (Guided Bomb Unit) and BLU (Bomb Live Unit) models, whose explosive mechanisms failed to function properly and were found intact by special forces.
After the successful neutralization, the equipment was transferred to the technical and research unit for reverse engineering.
The statement added that the hardware found included bunker-busting missiles and cruise missiles, as well as advanced enemy drones such as Harop, LUCAS, MQ-9, and Hermes models. Many of these US weapons systems were reportedly found intact.
Authorities said the neutralization operation had been successfully completed in all districts and towns in the province.
It is known that a number of operations to neutralize enemy ammunition that has not exploded have been carried out in recent weeks throughout Hormozgan, as part of ongoing efforts to clear and secure military and surrounding areas, preventing potential danger to residents.
