Thee Marloes After Through The Changes, A Lonely Fragment Towards a New Album
Trio from Surabaya, Thee Marloes, again gave emotional leaks before they actually finished the full narrative in the highly anticipated second album.
Through the latest single titled "Through The Changes", the band, which is led by Natassya Sianturi (vocals), Sinatrya Dharaka (guitar), and Tommy Satrio Wicaksono (drums), chose to close their introduction series with an intimate and fragile tone.
This song is presented as a contemplative space for anyone who has ever felt lost. If the previous singles tend to be explosive with a thick soul-funk feel, "Through The Changes" comes with a minimalist but warm arrangement.
In this song, Natassya Sianturi's vocals sound so close to the ear - conveying a deep longing for a figure who has passed away through honest and unpretentious lyrics.
Natassya tries to string together existential questions that often arise in the grief phase, about how humans remain connected to memories even though the loved one is no longer there.
"Through this song, we try to imagine what it feels like to talk to someone who is no longer there, about doubts and the desire to keep remembering them in the midst of life changes," said Natassya in her statement, Monday, April 27.
Technically, the song produced by the three members themselves proves their musical maturity. The success of penetrating the international market - after previously succeeding with the first album titled "Perak" in 2024 - makes every step of Thee Marloes now a spotlight for music lovers.
Not only available digitally, Thee Marloes, known for consistently maintaining the tradition of physical releases, also launched a 45rpm (7-inch) vinyl record.
The single "Through The Changes" is the last gate before the album "Di Hotel Malibu" is officially released to the public on May 22.
This album is believed to be a complete emotional journey, summarizing various life spectra ranging from meetings, distances, to silent losses.
