Sido Muncul Holds Free Cataract Operation in Semarang

JAKARTA - PT Industri Jamu Dan Farmasi Sido Muncul Tbk (SIDO) again shows its commitment in reducing the number of blindness due to cataracts in Indonesia. This Tolak Angin producer held a free cataract surgery social service in Semarang.

This time Sido Muncul worked together with the Indonesian Association of Eye Specialists of Central Java (Perdami Jateng) and Soepardjo Roestam Regional Eye Hospital Semarang, Central Java. The assistance was symbolically handed over virtually by Sido Muncul President Director Dr. (H.C.) Irwan Hidayat to the Director of Soepardjo Roestam Regional Eye Hospital Wahyu Handoyo, SKM, M.Kes.

Present on this occasion were the Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, Yunita Dyah Suminar, the Head of the Semarang City Health Office, Moh Abdul Hakam, FINASIM and the Secretary of 1 Perdami branch of Central Java, Andhika Guna Dharma.

Irwan said that this activity was the second cataract operation in 2026 carried out by Sido Muncul after it was previously held at the Maranatha Bandung Hospital for 200 eyes.

Irwan added that this activity is a form of Sido Muncul's concern for people with visual impairment.

"With this free cataract surgery social service, it can help reduce the number of cataract sufferers in Indonesia which continues to increase every year," said Irwan, Saturday, April 25.

According to him, since 2011, Sido Muncul has worked with Perdami to operate more than 57,000 eyes throughout Indonesia.

In addition to free cataract surgery, Sido Muncul has also consistently held other Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, such as a free cleft lip surgery program to provide assistance for stunted children in various regions in Indonesia.

Furthermore, Irwan said that business sustainability is not solely measured by the size of the business, but rather by how much benefit it can provide to the community.

"A business can be successful and long-lasting if it can provide benefits to the community. This is my way of promoting while helping. So, I use all the capabilities of the Sido Muncul fund to do something useful for the community," said Irwan.
