JAKARTA - Janice Tjen and Aldila Sutjiadi secured the ticket to the quarterfinals of the women's doubles event at the 2026 WTA 1000 Madrid Open after defeating the sixth seeded pair of Cristina Bucsa/Nicole Melichar-Martinez.

Cristina/Nicole immediately lost two games at the beginning of the first set after losing the first game and could not secure a single point in the second game when Janice/Aldila held the serve.
They then took advantage of the service in the third game and managed to convert one break point in the next game to tie the score. However, Janice/Aldila immediately bounced back and secured the next three games to take a 5-2 lead.
In the next game, Cristina/Nicole managed to convert one of the three break points to reduce the score. The score then became even thinner at 4-5 after they managed to win the fifth game which was dramatic.
Cristina/Nicole actually managed to hold one set point in the 10th game. However, Janice/Aldila, who performed solidly from the start of the match, easily secured victory on the next serve.
Janice/Aldila then continued their impressive performance to quickly take a 2-0 lead at the start of the second set. Unfortunately, they failed to convert two break points in the third game so that the position was tight.
However, the next game was successful for them to maintain their advantage after thwarting two break points against their opponents. Cristina/Nicole who did not want to be far behind then rose to steal the fifth game, but failed in the next three games so that they were sure to be eliminated.
