Allegedly fled to Egypt, Commission III of the DPR asked the National Police to arrest Ahmad Al-Misry after harassing students
Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Abdullah supports the steps of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police who named Sheikh Ahmad Al-Misry as a suspect in the case of alleged sexual harassment of a number of male students. He also asked the Indonesian National Police to immediately arrest Ahmad Al-Misry who is suspected of having fled to Egypt.
Abdullah emphasized that the National Police must take firm steps through international cooperation and bring the suspects to the country. He emphasized that Ahmad Al-Misry must be punished.
"I ask the National Police to immediately coordinate with Interpol to arrest and bring the suspect back to Indonesia so that he can be held legally accountable for his actions," Abdullah told reporters, Monday, April 27.
The member of the DPR legal commission stated that the actions taken by the suspect were very tarnishing the good name of Islam. According to him, sexual harassment of male students by manipulating religious teachings is a serious crime that cannot be tolerated.
"What is more worrying, the suspect is suspected of using deviant religious arguments, even daring to lie in the name of the Prophet Muhammad and his companions to carry out his actions," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java District.
Abdullah also urged law enforcement officials to move quickly and seriously in handling this case, including ensuring that the suspects are immediately arrested and processed in accordance with the laws in force in Indonesia.
"This is not only a legal issue, but also concerns the protection of victims and maintaining the dignity of religion. The state must be present and act decisively," he said.
As reported, Syekh Ahmad Al Misry was named a suspect in the case of alleged abuse of students. This determination of a suspect was made based on the implementation of the case title by investigators on the basis of a police report number: LP/B/586/XI/2025/SPKT/Bareskrim Polri dated November 28, 2025.
According to the BAP investigator, the number of victims is around 5 people. However, it is possible that the number of victims could increase. Because, currently data collection is still being carried out. Those who were victims came from Yogyakarta, Egypt, Palembang, Gorontalo and Jakarta.
Currently, all the victims are in good condition and healthy. The victims are under the supervision of the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK).
