Ahead of Eid al-Adha, President Prabowo Donates 1 Cow in Natuna
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto donated one cow to be sacrificed on Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).
Head of the Food and Agriculture Directorate (DKPP) of Natuna Regency, Wan Syazali, said the regency was asked to propose the best cows, which would later be forwarded to the Government of the Riau Islands Province and then to the central government, to be used as President Prabowo Subianto's sacrificial cows.
He explained that the criteria for the proposed cows have an ideal weight of at least one ton and are in good condition.
His party has sent the requested proposal, but based on the results of the selection in the field, cows with a weight of one ton were not found.
"We have sent a proposal with a weight of around 879.46 kilograms. That is the largest available at this time," he confirmed in Natuna, Monday, quoted by Antara.
Wan Syazali said the measurement of the weight of the cow was carried out using the Lambourne formula, which is a method of estimating the weight of livestock without scales through the measurement of the girth of the chest and the length of the body. The proposed cow is known to be about three years and six months old.
Currently, the cow is still under intensive monitoring by the Natuna DKPP to ensure that its health is maintained until the time of slaughter.
Regarding the price, he said, it could not be determined. However, the location of the slaughter has been determined by the Natuna Regency Government, namely at the Al Ihyak Mosque, Air Payang Village, Laut Island District, which is one of the outermost islands in Indonesia.
"The Regent has designated the Pulau Laut District as the location for receiving assistance," he said.
