Gresik's Fake ASN SK Fraud Brain Captured in Kalimantan

GRESIK - The escape of a fugitive in the case of a fake civil servant (ASN) decree (SK) finally ended. Police arrested AT alias Antoni, a resident of Cerme, Gresik, East Java, in the Seruyan area, Central Kalimantan, after fleeing from the police.

This arrest was the culmination of an intensive hunt by a special team formed by the Gresik Police Chief. Antoni is suspected of being the main mastermind of the illegal ASN recruitment fraud that has harmed many victims.

Head of Public Relations of Gresik Police, Iptu Hepi Muslih Riza, confirmed the arrest. He said, Antoni has now been secured and is on his way to Gresik to undergo legal proceedings.

"It's true (he has been arrested)," Hepi said, in his statement, Sunday, April 27.

Previously, Antoni was on the wanted list (DPO) after allegedly being the mastermind of a fraud disguised as ASN recruitment. He offered an instant path to become a civil servant in the Gresik Regency Government (Pemkab).

With the convincing modus, the perpetrator promised an official position complete with documents that looked legitimate. The victim was asked to hand over money ranging from IDR 75 million to IDR 150 million.

Kasatreskrim Gresik Police AKP Arya Widjaya revealed that Antoni had fled when the case began to be revealed to the public. However, his escape did not last long.

"Two days after escaping, we received information about his whereabouts in Kalimantan. The team immediately moved to track him down," said Arya.

This case was revealed from the initial suspicion of a woman with the initials SE. She came to the Prokopim office of the Gresik Regency Government wearing an ASN uniform and carrying a SK assignment as a public relations staff.

After verification, the document was declared false. This finding then opened a wider investigation.

Development results show that SE is not the only victim. The Gresik Human Resources Development and Personnel Agency (BKPSDM) received at least nine similar reports.

The victims admitted to being deceived by the same scheme, namely the promise to be appointed as ASN through an unofficial channel. As a result, they suffered losses of up to hundreds of millions of rupiah.

The police are now still investigating the possibility of other victims and the network involved in this case. The apparatus also appeals to the public not to easily believe in the recruitment offer of ASN outside the official government channels.

This case is a warning that the desire to become ASN is often used by irresponsible individuals as an organized fraud mode.
