DKI Provincial Government Disbursed Rp253.6 M Freeing the Cost of 103 Private Schools in Jakarta

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has allocated a budget of IDR 253.6 billion to make education free of charge at 103 private schools in Jakarta in expanding access to education for the community.

"Jakarta has really started allocating funds for free private schools," said DKI Governor Pramono Anung in a press release in Jakarta, Saturday, quoted by Antara.

He said this policy is a manifestation of the seriousness of the DKI Provincial Government to ensure that Jakarta children continue to receive a decent education, including for families with economic constraints.

"Hopefully, what the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government does can break the chain of misfortune in poor families," he said.

This program is in accordance with the Decree of the Governor (Kepgub) of DKI Jakarta Number 312 of 2025, as many as 103 private schools are included in the program.

He detailed that as many as 40 private schools that received the extension received funding for 12 months, from January to December 2026.

In addition, 63 private schools as new recipients received funding for six months, from July to December 2026.

The free private school program covers elementary, middle, high school/vocational school, to SLB which is spread across five administrative city areas of Jakarta.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government also ensures that other education assistance continues, such as the Smart Jakarta Card (KJP), the Outstanding Jakarta Student Card (KJMU), and the diploma whitening program.

Governor Pramono congratulated all beneficiaries, both schools and participants in the education assistance program.

"We hope that these various policies will be the starting point for the birth of a more advanced generation of Jakarta through inclusive, complete, and quality access to education," he said.
