Child Drowned in East Lombok River, SAR Team Evacuated 

Mataram - The Mataram joint SAR team evacuated a boy named Alfarizi (12) for drowning in the Dam River, Desa Ketangga, Pringgabaya District, East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Province.

The coordinator of the Kayangan SAR Post in East Lombok, Saturday, said the incident began at 14.00 WITA when the victim was playing in the water on the edge of the dam.

"The victim slipped and hit a rock before finally drowning and disappearing in the dam's whirlpool. The incident was then reported by local residents to Basarnas," he said.

Upon receiving the report, the Mataram SAR Office through the Kayangan SAR Post immediately deployed a rescue team to the location with water equipment for the search process.

After intensive search efforts for several hours, the team finally managed to find the victim's whereabouts and at 17.30 WITA, the victim was found at the bottom of the dam with a depth of about two meters through diving techniques by the Kayangan SAR Post personnel.

"The victim on behalf of Alfarizi was found at 17.30 WITA in a dead condition," he said.

He said that after being evacuated, the victim was immediately taken to the funeral home to be handed over to the family for burial at the public cemetery in the local village.

He also expressed his appreciation to all elements involved in this search operation.

"The success of finding the victim in a relatively short time is the result of solid synergy from various parties," he said.

He appealed to the public, especially parents, to be more vigilant in supervising children when they are around rivers or dams, considering the currents and terrain conditions that can be dangerous at any time.
