PPIH Health Officers Intensify Education for Hajj Candidates to Face Extreme Heat
JAKARTA - Health officials from the Saudi Arabian Hajj Organizing Committee (PPIH) are intensifying education and distributing health supplies to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims to face extreme hot weather in the Holy Land.
In the midst of the busy worship activities, the officers actively provided direct education to the congregation, especially regarding the prevention of the impact of hot weather such as dehydration and fatigue due to exposure to sunlight.
"The temperature in Madinah is around 34 to 35 (degrees Celsius), so it's hot. So pilgrims are advised to wear masks during the day," said PPIH Madinah health officer, Siti Ratna, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, April 25.
"The appeal for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims is to use PPE, masks, face sprayers, and sandals," he added.
The congregation is urged to meet the body's fluid needs by consuming at least two to three liters of water per day. In addition, the congregation is also encouraged to drink water every 30 minutes without waiting for thirst.
In addition to providing education, officers also distribute masks and oralites to worshipers as a preventive measure. Masks are used to protect against dust and hot air, while oralites help maintain the body's fluid balance.
The distribution of health equipment was carried out at a number of strategic points, especially in the area of the Prophet's Mosque which is the center of the congregation's worship activities.
Through this effort, it is hoped that Indonesian pilgrims can carry out their worship more safely and comfortably, and avoid the risk of health problems in the midst of extreme weather conditions.
