Natuna Regency Extinguishes Fire on 17-hectare Land
JAKARTA - The Natuna Regency Government (Pemkab), Riau Islands, carried out a fire extinguishing operation on an area of 17 hectares (ha).
Head of the Natuna Regency Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkarmat) Syawaldi confirmed from Natuna, Saturday, that the incident occurred in three locations in South Bunguran District on Friday (24/4).
The first location was at Tanjung Saguk. This incident occurred in the morning. The extinguishing process started at 11.55 WIB and ended at 14.21 WIB.
"The area of land that burned at this location is about three hectares and belongs to the community," he said, as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 25.
The second location in Penarekdengan with a fire area of about 10 hectares. The incident report was received at 14.15 WIB, then the blackout began at 15.10 WIB and ended at 17.40 WIB.
"After completing the handling at the first location, the Charlie Regu team immediately moved to this location using the BP 9000 N fleet," he said.
The third location is in Pian Padang with an area of burned land of around four hectares. The report was received at 17.45 WIB and the extinguishing process began at 17.57 WIB. The end of the extinguishing at 18.40 WIB.
In an effort to extinguish the three locations, the Natuna Disdamkarmat was assisted by the TNI, Polri, and local people.
He hopes that similar incidents will not happen again, because the fire has damaged vegetation and has a negative impact on the surrounding ecosystem.
"Until now, the cause of the fire is still unknown. Officers also face obstacles in the form of difficulty finding water sources," he said.
