Trump Sends His Representatives Witkoff-Kushner to Meet Iran's Foreign Minister in Pakistan
JAKARTA - President Donald Trump sent his envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to Pakistan to meet with the Iranian foreign minister.
Currently, officials in the South Asian country are trying to revive the ceasefire talks between the US and Iran.
The talks, planned for Saturday, April 25, come amid world tensions over a war that has disrupted exports of vital energy through the Strait of Hormuz, clouded the global economic outlook, and left thousands dead in the Middle East.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Friday evening. Previously on social media, he wrote that he was traveling to Pakistan in order to focus on "bilateral issues and regional developments." He did not mention who he would meet.
Shortly after Araghchi landed, the country's government made it clear that there would be no direct negotiations with American government representatives during this visit.
