Dave Grohl Reveals the Weird Secret to Maintaining His Vocal Quality

JAKARTA - Foo Fighters frontman, Dave Grohl, has revealed the secret behind his vocal strength which is still prima even though he has been screaming on stage for decades.

Instead of doing the breathing exercises or conventional vocal warm-up techniques recommended by professional coaches, Grohl has a unique ritual.

Grohl admitted that he was initially worried that his aggressive singing style would damage his vocal organs. He imagined that the condition of his vocal cords would be in a state of disarray. However, the results of the medical examination showed a very surprising fact for the doctor and himself.

"The doctor put a camera down my throat and said, 'Just relax.' Then he asked me to say 'eee'. After looking at my vocal cords, he said, 'Wow, this looks amazing.' I replied, 'You must be joking'," said Dave Grohl when he was a guest on the Dish podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.

More interestingly, when the doctor asked about Grohl's warm-up routine before going on stage. Honestly, the 57-year-old musician explained his drinking schedule in great detail before the concert began.

Grohl explained that one hour before the show, he would start opening the first beer can. He also sometimes takes pain relievers such as Advil to relieve the pain in his knees and ankles due to age.

The ritual continues with one sloki whiskey. After the first beer is gone, he will open the second beer. Approaching the time of the performance, all band members will gather to do what they call "band prayer", which is actually a session of drinking whiskey together.

Fifteen minutes before the stage lights came on, Grohl closed out the "warm-up" set with a third beer and one last shot of whiskey.

"And my doctor said, 'Don't change anything you're doing. It worked!' And I was like, 'Okay, awesome!' And that's the truth," Grohl said with a laugh.
