Rotation of the Ministry of Finance Officials, Purbaya Singgung 'Noise' Internal
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa explained the reason for the replacement of Director General of the Budget Luky Alfirman and Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy Febrio Nathan Kacaribu.
He emphasized that the move was part of a routine rotation in the I-level environment.
"The rotation of the I echelon, it's just a normal process. Usually we have how many years, how many years, so there's nothing special about it," he said in a media briefing, Friday, April 24.
When asked if the change was related to his statement a few days earlier, Purbaya admitted that there was a slight connection, although it was not the only reason.
Previously, he had alluded to the existence of employees who claimed to be ready to carry out the order, but the realization was delayed for months.
"Yes and no. Yes there is a little bit, but it's not just that, there are others," said Purbaya.
Purbaya also highlighted the emergence of various "noise" or information circulating from within the Ministry of Finance and one of them is the news that the State Budget can only last a few weeks if the fuel price does not rise.
He also touched on another issue that said the Minister of Finance was closed and could not speak English, even suggested not to meet investors because it was considered to be able to disrupt investor confidence.
"There is information that has come out that the Minister of Finance is closed, he cannot discuss the UK this time and if he can, don't bring him to meet investors because he will mess it up. That's from the inside, so we'll clean it up a little," he said.
Responding to the alleged internal differences of opinion, Purbaya stated that differences of opinion are normal.
However, he emphasized that the spread of inaccurate numbers or information could be misleading and have a negative impact.
"If there is a difference of opinion, it's okay. We can have a difference of opinion in Finance. They are angry. It's okay. Only when there is misinformation like that, it will destroy the government's legacy as well. So we have to clean it up," he said.
Purbaya also did not want to reveal the party that spread the information, but ensured that it would be handled internally.
He emphasized that he would discipline various information disorders and had appointed a daily executive (Plh) to fill the vacant position.
For information, Purbaya appointed Sudarto as Acting Director General of the Budget, while Ferry Ardianto as Acting Director General of Economic and Fiscal Strategy.
