Smart Ways to Turn Online Shopping Hobbies into More Profit

JAKARTA - After the euphoria of shopping during Ramadan and Eid has subsided, many people have started to reorganize their financial condition. Interestingly, this "back to savings" phase has actually spawned a new habit, namely smarter and planned online shopping that is not just impulsive, but can still be profitable.

In the midst of this changing pattern, ShopeePay has a campaign titled "The Most Economical ShopeePay App" throughout April 2026. Instead of just offering promos, this campaign can be read as a response to a digital lifestyle that is increasingly adaptive for those who like to shop.

During Ramadan, the spike in transactions is indeed an annual phenomenon. ShopeePay Indonesia President Director, Eka Nilam Dari, revealed that shopping transaction activity on the application peaked during the Ramadan period.

"This shows that people are increasingly relying on digital financial services to send THR to their families and meet daily needs," Eka said in a press statement to VOI, Friday, April 24.

But after the moment passed, the direction of habits changed. Users began to sort out expenses, use promos selectively, and find ways to make each transaction still add value.

"Through this campaign, we want to support users to return to post-Ramadan routines with more efficient and economical daily transactions," he added.

Through the QRIS transaction, for example, users can collect points which can then be exchanged for various benefits, ranging from vouchers to higher value gifts such as gold. This concept changes the mindset that the more relevant transactions, the greater the opportunity to get a return.

Even for users of paylater services, the accumulation of points can happen faster. This means that daily shopping activities if managed properly can feel like "small investment".

The habit of smart shopping is also seen from the way people use installments. The 0 percent installment program is no longer a consumer trap, but a cash flow management tool, especially if it is used for needs that have been planned.

In addition, promos such as cheap pulsa from operators such as Telkomsel, XL, and IM3, or discounts at daily outlets such as Alfamart and Indomaret, are now more often used for routine needs - not just "hungry eyes".

This phenomenon shows an interesting shift, namely online shopping is no longer synonymous with extravagance. In fact, with the right approach, this activity can be part of a frugal lifestyle that is still productive.

"The key is how to use the features, read the promos, and maintain discipline in transactions. Because in the end, it's not about how often you shop but how smart you manage it," concluded Eka.
