Police Ask Immigration to Deport Italian White to Make Trouble Against Police When Arrested in Denpasar
DENPASAR - The Denpasar City Police have recommended the deportation of an Italian citizen with the initials GI who is suspected of violating traffic regulations and is considered to be disturbing public order.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (22/4) at around 11.00 WITA at the four-way intersection of Jalan Gunung Agung-Jalan Mahendradatta, Denpasar.
Reported by ANTARA, Friday, April 24, Denpasar Police Chief Kombes Leonardo David Simatupang said the action was taken following the circulation of the video of the incident on social media.
According to him, when the officers carried out the action, the foreign national was uncooperative, resisted, and did not respect the officers who were carrying out their duties.
Following up on the incident, a joint team of the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Intelkam Unit of the Denpasar Police moved quickly to secure the person concerned.
The police also coordinated with the Immigration Office of Class I Special TPI Ngurah Rai to conduct further examinations of the foreign nationals.
Leonardo emphasized that this rapid step was a form of the police's commitment to maintaining public security and order (kamtibmas), especially in Bali as an international tourist destination.
"We will not tolerate any actions that disrupt public order. This is a manifestation of synergy between the police and Immigration in maintaining a safe and conducive situation," he said.
Based on the results of the handling, the police have submitted a deportation recommendation for the foreign national and will be handed over to the Immigration for processing in accordance with applicable regulations.
He added that this step is expected to have a deterrent effect on other parties, especially foreign citizens, so that they always respect the laws and norms in force in Indonesia.
The Denpasar Police also appealed to the public, including foreign tourists, to jointly maintain order for the creation of a safe and conducive situation in the Bali region, especially the City of Denpasar.
