Not Just an SUV, BYD Fang Cheng Bao Now Launches Formula X Supercar
JAKARTA - The Beijing 2026 automotive exhibition which was officially opened today became a stage for Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD, to introduce its three latest models. Interestingly, the brand which has been synonymous with SUVs has begun to penetrate new segments by presenting its first sedan.
Quoted from Carnewschina, Friday, April 24, they also brought the S series which has a sporty character as well as the Formula X concept which immediately caught the attention. This step is a continuation of the development plan for the X product line which has been announced in 2024.
The main highlight is certainly Formula X, a two-door aggressive-looking convertible supercar. This model carries the design philosophy of Fang Cheng Bao's Super 9 concept, with the Life Metal Aesthetics approach that is its hallmark.
The body is made very low, combined with a complex aerodynamic package that includes 19 different air vents. At the back, there are Infinite Ring lights, an electric active spoiler, and a hollow diffuser placed behind the wheels, reinforcing the sporty and functional impression.
Another technical advantage is seen from the use of carbon fiber material on the entire body, which helps reduce the weight of the vehicle. In addition, the design of the door is made dramatic with a combination of gullwing and scissor mechanisms, giving the impression of a typical exotic high-performance car.
Entering the cabin, the Formula X offers a combat cockpit-style driving experience with a circular layout that focuses on the driver. The interior features a contrasting gray and green color combination.
Various features such as physical mechanical buttons, retractable steering wheel, integrated sports seats, to four-point racing seat belts further confirm its performance orientation. Fang Cheng Bao said this model will enter mass production and launch into the market next year.
In addition to presenting supercars, Fang Cheng Bao also officially introduced the S-series sedan as part of the strategy to expand the portfolio. The presence of this line marks a serious step for the brand to not only play in the offroad segment.
As a brand that previously focused on off-road vehicles, Fang Cheng Bao recorded significant sales performance. In December, sales reached 50,868 units and in the first three months of this year, monthly sales jumped more than 200 percent compared to the same period last year.
