DKI Provincial Government Asks Residents to Turn Off Lights for 1 Hour Saturday Night
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invites residents of the Capital City to turn off the lights for one hour on Saturday night, April 25, 2026. This action is carried out as part of Earth Day and an effort to encourage energy savings.
The blackout action is scheduled to take place from 20.30 to 21.30 WIB. The DKI Environment Service (LH) targets broad participation, not only from government agencies but also the private sector and the general public.
"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government invites all residents to participate in energy-saving actions in order to celebrate Earth Day," wrote the DKI LH Office, Friday, April 24.
DLH explained that the blackout would be implemented at various strategic points in the five administrative regions of Jakarta. For government buildings, all DKI Provincial Government offices will turn off the lights, except for health service facilities such as hospitals, health centers, and clinics.
In addition, a number of private buildings, shopping centers, restaurants, hotels, and apartments are also urged to participate in the action.
The blackout will also be carried out on street lights at several points as follows: - Central Jakarta: Jl. Sudirman (Dukuh Atas - Sampoerna Strategic Building), Jl. MH. Thamrin, Seputaran Jalan Medan Merdeka (in front of the Presidential Palace), Jl. Youth Gate - Jl. Asia Afrika, City Hall Office Yard, and the Office of the Mayor of Central Jakarta.
- North Jakarta: Jl. Yos Sudarso, North Jakarta City Hall Complex, and Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan.
- West Jakarta: Jl. Daan Mogot, Jl. Kembangan Raya (in front of the Mayor's Office), and the West Jakarta Mayor's Office Complex.
- East Jakarta: Jl. Dr. Sumarno, Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, and the East Jakarta City Hall Complex.
- South Jakarta: Jl. Prapanca Raya, Jl. Gerbang Pemuda - Jl. Asia Afrika, Jl. Sudirman (Sampoerna Strategic Building - Youth Statue), City Hall Building, and Jl. Rasuna Said.
A number of city icons will also be turned off during the action, including the City Hall area, the National Monument (Monas), the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, to iconic statues in Jakarta.
"The following icons of Jakarta pride will participate in this action," wrote the DKI LH Office.
The DKI LH Office noted that similar actions throughout 2025 resulted in significant energy savings. Among them, electricity consumption savings of 439.76 MWh, economic savings of Rp636,655,763, and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions of 365.53 tons of carbon dioxide.
