Taylor Swift's Dominance to The Weeknd's Record, Spotify Reveals the Most Listened to Musicians of All Time
JAKARTA - The Swedish digital music streaming service giant, Spotify, has officially released a list of the most played musicians, albums, and songs of all time.
This announcement is an important historical record in commemorating the company's 20th anniversary since its first appearance in 2006.
Based on these data, Taylor Swift's name is firmly perched at the top as the artist who is most listened to globally - an achievement that further confirms her status as a global pop icon.
In the song sector, The Weeknd's hit "Blinding Lights" released in 2019 managed to become the most played song in the world. This synth-pop-inspired song outperformed Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" which came in second place.
Meanwhile, for the album category, the Puerto Rican musician, Bad Bunny, through "Un Verano Sin Ti" (2022), surprisingly took the first position, defeating the dominance of American and British musicians in the list of most popular albums.
Another surprise came from Coldplay, who through "Yellow" managed to occupy the 15th position on the list of the most played songs, even though the song was released six years before Spotify itself stood up.
In addition, Arctic Monkeys showed their fangs through their fifth album, "AM" (2013), which sits at number nine.
