Admit Road Improvement is Impacted by Lack of Asphalt Material, Rano Karno: Jakarta Community Must Understand
JAKARTA - Complaints from residents about damaged and potholed roads are still a priority for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno admitted that road repairs are not yet optimal, one of which is due to limited asphalt materials.
Rano explained that in addition to temporary patching, the DKI Provincial Government relied on the permanent paving method to ensure that road repairs lasted a long time. However, global conditions have disrupted the supply of raw materials.
"Now what I have to say is also a problem, asphalt material is difficult now. Because asphalt is a component of oil and everything is imported," said Rano at Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, Friday, April 24.
However, Rano claimed that the plan to re-coat the asphalt was still going on, especially when entering the dry season which was considered more ideal for the work. However, its realization is still waiting for the availability of materials.
"Well, this is also what the people of Jakarta must understand, in fact, we have plans to layer (lay asphalt), God willing, the dry season will come, it's time to layer, but once we want to (do) this, the asphalt is again difficult," said Rano.
In addition to material constraints, he also touched on the limitations of human resources in the field. The vastness of the Jakarta area makes it impossible to handle all points at once.
"Jakarta is too wide. If you count the PPSU, for example, Bina Marga, we are short 1,000 people. With information we know so that we can move quickly," he said.
Rano said the government had actually mapped out priority points for improvement. However, the location determination must still be adjusted to the conditions on the ground.
"Although we actually know, it's just because this Jakarta area is wide, where it used to be a priority," he added.
