3 Months on the Run, ASITA Kaltara Project Corruption Fugitive Arrested in South Sulawesi
TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) Joint Fugitive Capture Team (Tabur) together with the Attorney General's Office and the South Sulawesi Prosecutor's Office arrested a fugitive in a case of alleged corruption in the Kaltara Tourism Office's Tourism Information System Application (ASITA) project.
Head of the Kaltara Attorney General's Office Yudi Indra Gunawan said the suspect with the initials SE alias MI was secured in the South Sulawesi region on Wednesday, April 22 at around 12.00 WITA.
"The suspect is a private party as the executor of the ASITA construction work and has been named a suspect since February 10, 2026," said Yudi, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 24.
MI previously skipped the investigator's call until he was listed as a wanted person (DPO). After about three months on the run, his whereabouts were detected in South Sulawesi and immediately secured by the Tabur team.
After the arrest, the suspect was flown to North Kalimantan and arrived at the North Kalimantan Prosecutor's Office on Thursday afternoon. After the examination, MI was immediately detained at the Bulungan Police Detention Center.
In this case, investigators had previously named two other suspects, namely SMDN as the former Acting Head of the Kaltara Tourism Service and SF as the Chairman of the Kaltara ASITA DPD.
Yudi emphasized that his party would continue to hunt down fugitives involved in criminal acts.
"There is no safe place for fugitives. We urge the public not to hesitate to provide information if they know the whereabouts of DPO," he said.
