Wamenkomdigi Nezar Wants Digital Transformation to Produce Real Impact

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria emphasized that Indonesia is not enough to expand infrastructure, but requires a digital leap that produces real solutions for the community.

According to him, the direction of Indonesia's digital transformation must move from merely building connectivity to utilizing technology that has a direct impact.

"Our country has witnessed a significant increase in internet usage, reaching 80 percent of the population by 2025, up from 54 percent in 2020," he said.

However, he reminded that the gap in access and quality of services is still a major challenge that must be answered immediately.

"For example, only half of our villages are equipped with fiber optic distribution points and only a small number of schools in remote areas benefit from high-speed internet connections," he explained.

According to Nezar, this condition requires faster and more targeted steps. He also emphasized that connectivity is not the end goal, but the foundation for encouraging relevant innovation.

For this reason, he explained that the innovation center is an important space to develop technology that is in line with Indonesia's needs.

"This innovation center will serve as a container for new ideas. A laboratory where cutting-edge technologies such as AI, 5G, and other advanced digital solutions will be explored, developed, and adapted to Indonesia's unique needs," he said.

Wamen Nezar also emphasized that the success of digital transformation is not measured by the technology itself, but by its impact on society.

According to him, our real success lies in our ability to utilize this innovation to improve the lives of our people.

Seeing the challenges, Nezar emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is the key to ensuring that technology truly benefits the entire community.
