Janice Tjen - Aldila Sutjiadi into the 16th round of the 2026 Madrid Open

JAKARTA - The Indonesian women's doubles, Janice Tjen/Aldila Sutjiadi, successfully advanced to the 16th round of the 2026 Madrid Open (Open) after winning convincingly in the 32nd round.

Facing Marta Kostyuk (Ukraine)/Clara Tauson (Denmark), Janice/Aldila won two sets directly in the match held on the Caja Magica clay court, Madrid on Thursday (24/4) night WIB. They finished the match with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), according to the WTA official website.

In the first set, as reported by Antara, Janice/Aldila appeared solid and was able to control the game to close the set with a victory 6-3.

Entering the second set, Kostyuk/Tauson's resistance increased to force a tie-break. However, the Indonesian pair remained dominant and sealed the victory with a tie-break score of 7-1.

With this result, Janice/Aldila secured a place in the last eight. They are still waiting for the opponent who will be determined from the match between Eri Hozumi (Japan)/Fang-Hsien Wu (Taiwan) against the sixth seeded pair Cristina Bucsa (Spain)/Nicole Melichar-Martinez (United States).

The match is scheduled to take place on Friday (25/4).

Before appearing impressive in the doubles, Janice Tjen also recorded a positive result in the singles. He managed to advance to the second round after defeating Russian player Alina Charaeva in the opening match which took place on court 7 of the Caja Magica, Wednesday (22/4).

In the match, Janice had trouble at the beginning of the match. However, he was able to rise and perform solidly to secure victory in two sets straight with a score of 6-4, 6-2.

The victory also ended Janice's negative trend, who had previously always been eliminated in the first round in the last four tournaments.
