Highest in History, Wamentan Sudaryono: Indonesian Rice Stock Reaches 5 Million Tons in the Era of President Prabowo
JAKARTA - The government under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto has recorded a new milestone in national food security. The government's rice reserves managed by Perum Bulog officially broke through the 5,000,198 mark on April 23, 2026, becoming the highest in Indonesia's history.
This achievement was conveyed directly by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono when reviewing the Bulog Sukamaju warehouse in Palembang City. During the visit, he directly ensured the condition of rice stocks stored in the warehouse.
"Now is April 23, 2026 and Bulog as an institution tasked with storing government rice reserves, in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, we have the highest 5,000.198, the highest in history, the highest throughout Bulog's existence and the highest throughout the Republic's existence. "said Wamentan Sudaryono, Thursday, April 23.
Wamentan Sudaryono, who is familiarly called Mas Dar, emphasized that this achievement is an important moment that reflects the success of national food policies. According to him, this record is inseparable from cross-sectoral collaboration in strengthening the production and distribution of rice in the country.
To ensure the validity of these achievements, Mas Dar has conducted direct inspections at a number of locations, including those carried out by Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman in Karawang, West Java. The inspection was carried out to see the harvest results and the condition of the stored rice reserves.
"I have been traveling with my friends, including Mr. Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman in Karawang, we are ensuring and checking the results and the condition of our rice reserves stored in the Bulog Warehouse directly," said Wamentan Sudaryono.
From the results of the check, Sudaryono, who is also the General Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Unity Association (HKTI), ensured that the quality of rice was in good condition. He even carried out random checks, including opening the sealed rice bags to ensure that there was no deterioration in quality.
"We just checked the quality, some were one year, some were six months, all were in good condition, there was no smell. I checked all of them randomly, and I also asked them to open the sealed ones," he said.
In addition to being a national strategic reserve, the rice stock will also be used to support the food assistance program for the community. Thus, the existence of Bulog is considered to have a vital role in maintaining the stability of supply while controlling the price of rice in the market.
"This is Insyallah in-out to channel food assistance. So Bulog is excellent in storing government rice reserves," said Wamentan Sudaryono.
In terms of production, the data of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows a very positive trend. National rice production in 2025 was recorded to increase by 4.07 million tons to reach 34.69 million tons or 13.29 percent, compared to the previous year supported by an increase in harvest area and various policies to strengthen the agricultural sector.
At the end of his statement, Mas Dar, who is also known as a farmer's child from Grobogan, expressed his appreciation to all parties who contributed to this achievement. Starting from farmers, agricultural extensionists, to the support of the TNI, Polri, Prosecutor's Office, and local governments.
"Congratulations to agriculture, congratulations to Indonesian farmers. We must maintain this achievement and be accountable to all Indonesian people," he concluded.
