Two Days Missing in the Ciliwung River, 11-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Kaliadem

JAKARTA - A joint SAR team found a 11-year-old boy who was previously reported missing after being swept away by the Ciliwung River. The victim was found in the waters of Kaliadem, Muara Angke, North Jakarta, Thursday, April 23, 2026.

The victim named Al-Ghazali was reported missing on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 on Jalan Tanah Rendah, Kampung Melayu Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

After two days of searching, the victim was found dead.

Head of the Jakarta SAR Office, Desiana Kartika Bahari, said the victim's body was immediately evacuated to an ambulance and taken to the Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) for visa purposes.

"The search was carried out by searching along the Ciliwung River using rubber boats and monitoring the land route up to a radius of 13 kilometers from the location of the incident," he said.

With the discovery of the victim, the SAR operation was officially stopped.

"We offer our condolences to the victims' families and thank all elements of the joint SAR," said Desiana.

This operation involves Basarnas, BPBD DKI Jakarta, Jatinegara Police, East Jakarta Police, Damkar, Polairud Polda Metro Jaya, and local residents.
