Kemenhaj: Nearly 6,000 Indonesian Hajj Candidates Have Arrived in Madinah
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) reported that the first wave of Indonesian prospective pilgrims who had arrived in Medina, Saudi Arabia, was almost 6,000 people after the start of the 1447 Hijriah Hajj mission on April 22, 2026.
The Indonesian Consul General in Jeddah, Yusron B. Ambary, asked pilgrims who had arrived to limit their movements and reduce unnecessary outdoor activities in order to maintain their health.
"It is hoped that the congregation will always maintain their health and not force themselves, considering that the series of Hajj services is still long," said Yusron as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 23.
He explained that most Indonesian Hajj participants are elderly, and they are reminded not to force themselves to worship if their bodies are not fit.
Good physical condition, he continued, is very necessary so that pilgrims can undergo the peak of the hajj in May.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Madinah Working Area (Daker) Khalilurrahman also appealed to the pilgrims to be aware of the weather changes in Madinah by using personal protective equipment.
"The congregation is urged to use umbrellas, glasses, masks, and comfortable footwear. In addition to it, it is important to regularly drink water, about two to three sips every 20-30 minutes," he said.
He suggested using sunscreen and lip balm to maintain the body's condition from exposure to hot weather.
On the first day of arrival, almost 6,000 Indonesian Hajj participants landed through Amir Muhammad bin Abdul Aziz Airport, Madinah.
Based on data, a total of 5,997 people who are members of 15 flight groups (clusters) arrived gradually until Wednesday (22/4) at 22.55 Saudi Arabia Time.
The congregation came from various embarkations in Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Medan, Lombok, Solo, and Makassar.
