Prayer for Spiritual Crossing at Mount Padang, Ecological Tobat Appeal on Earth Day

Cianjur - Amid the increasing threat of natural disasters and social unrest, a spiritual effort was held in the Gunung Padang area, West Java, Wednesday (22/4/2026), coinciding with the momentum of Earth Day commemoration.

This cross-spiritual prayer activity was initiated by the General Chair of the Forum of Editors of Indonesian Cyber Media and also the Treasurer of PWI DKI Jaya, Dar Edi Yoga. The prayer was centered on Teras 5 Gunung Padang, a quiet space full of reflection and awareness, involving monks, press people, and figures from organizations across communities.

A number of figures were present, including the Head of the PWI Center's Legal Advocacy and Development, Anrico Pasaribu, member of the PWI Center's Expert Council, Raldy Doy, Deputy Secretary General of WALUBI, Romo Asun Gotama, the PWI Central and DKI Jaya PWI management, the management of the Forum of Editors of Indonesian Cyber Media, enthusiasts of the outdoors, and members of the Interreligious and Community Relations (HAAK) and the Jakarta Cathedral Church environmental community.

In his statement, Dar Edi Yoga emphasized that this activity was not just a ceremony, but a spiritual call to restore human awareness to the earth and life.

"We did not come to ask, but to prostrate in gratitude and awareness. This earth is not to be exploited without limit, but to be guarded. This is a call for ecological repentance," he said.

He assessed that the damage to nature that led to disasters was not only a technical problem, but also reflected the way humans treated the earth, which was increasingly moving away from the value of balance.

"If humans forget how to respect the earth, then nature will remind them in its own way. This prayer is an effort for Indonesia to become a friendly country again, free from disasters and turmoil," he continued.

Meanwhile, WALUBI Deputy Secretary General Romo Asun Gotama emphasized the importance of the spiritual dimension in maintaining the sustainability of nature. According to him, ecological awareness cannot be separated from human inner awareness.

"In Buddhist teachings, harmony with nature is part of the practice of wisdom. When humans live with awareness, compassion, and non-greed, then nature will be maintained. This prayer is a reminder that taking care of the earth is part of spiritual practice," he said.

Chairman of Artha Graha Peduli (AGP) Daily, Kent Dixon, added that concern for the environment is a shared responsibility across faiths and elements of the nation.

"Caring for the environment is a universal responsibility that unites us all. With the spirit of cross-faith cooperation, Artha Graha Peduli, one heart to care, invites all elements of the nation to make Earth Day as a momentum to strengthen harmony, maintain harmony between humans, the Creator, and Mother Earth, and ensure that the natural heritage remains sustainable for future generations," he said.

Through this Earth Day momentum, Yoga also invites the public and leaders of the nation to re-understand the position of humans as part of nature, not free rulers who can destroy it.

Gunung Padang was chosen as the location of the activity because it was considered as a silent space for civilization, a place where humans are invited to return to the roots of awareness about the origin and purpose of life.

This activity is expected to be a reminder that taking care of the earth is not enough with policies and technology, but also requires deep spiritual awareness.

This cross-spirituality prayer was the first to be held in Gunung Padang, with the support of the DPP WALUBI, Artha Graha Peduli, and the participation of PT QMB New Energy Materials.

In his statement, PT QMB New Energy Materials CEO Pan Hua emphasized that his party's participation was a manifestation of commitment to environmental sustainability. As a major provider of materials for electric vehicle batteries, the company plays a role in supporting the global green energy transition to minimize ecological impacts.

"Through this joint prayer and concrete action, we reaffirm our dedication to not only moving the industry, but also taking care of the earth as a common heritage for future generations," he said.
