Indonesia Wins 8 Golds from the 86th Singapore Open Track & Field Championships 2026
JAKARTA - Indonesia managed to secure eight gold medals and one silver medal from the 86th Singapore Open Track & Field Championships 2026, which took place on April 15-17, 2026 at the National Stadium, Singapore.
The General Manager of the Indonesian All-Indonesia Athletic Association (PB PASI) sent a total of 23 people there, consisting of 15 athletes, five coaches, and three support personnel. As a result, Indonesia managed to achieve a proud achievement.
The Chairman of the National Sports Committee of Indonesia (KONI) Pusat, Marciano Norman, said that athletics is a strategic sport for Indonesia in every international multi-branch sports event.
"As the Chairman of the Central KONI, I would like to congratulate and appreciate the Indonesian athletics sports patriots. Of course, we hope that many athletes from the PB PASI will be able to become world-class athletes," said Marciano.
In the track number, North Sumatra athlete Daniel Simanjuntak, performed brilliantly by winning two gold medals. The first gold from the 5,000 meter with a time of 14 minutes 35.25 seconds and the second gold from the 10,000 meter with a time of 31 minutes 20.79 seconds.
The next gold medal was contributed by Yad Hafizudin from the 1,500 meter event with a time of 3 minutes 54.34 seconds. Then from the field, Maria Natalia Londa succeeded in the triple jump event with a jump of 12.94 meters.
Atinna Nurkamila Intan also contributed gold in the javelin throw with a record of 49.86 meters. Meanwhile, Idan Fauzan Richsan came out as the champion in the pole vault with a record of 5.00 meters.
The other gold medal was won by Novi Anggun Lestari in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1 minute 04.04 seconds. The other gold came from Pandu Sukarya who won the 3,000 meter hurdles with a record of 1 minute 21.77 seconds.
One silver medal for Indonesia was contributed by Maulana Ismail. He failed to be the best in the 400 meter event with a time of 47.79 seconds.
"This achievement is expected to be a motivation for young athletes and to be evaluated for improvement to a higher level. Hopefully this achievement will continue in the next international championships," said Marciano.
