Geely Galaxy A7 New Version Officially Released in China with EV Mileage of 550 Km

JAKARTA - Geely officially introduced an update for the Geely Galaxy A7 sedan in China, now available in a choice of pure electric powertrains (BEV) and plug-in hybrids (PHEV). For the most basic variant, this car is priced starting at 97,800 yuan or equivalent to Rp. 247 million.

Launching Carnewschina, Thursday, April 23, the Galaxy A7 model itself first appeared in the domestic market in August 2025 as a PHEV sedan with an affordable price. Based on China EV DataTracker data, Geely managed to ship 15,230 units to consumers throughout the first quarter of 2026.

However, this figure fell 59.4 percent compared to the previous quarter. This update is also a strategic step to boost sales again.

Now, the Galaxy A7 comes with two different characters. The plug-in hybrid version looks more aggressive with the front bumper design with a large active air intake and decorative chrome accents.

The chrome elements are also more prominent on the rear lights. Meanwhile, the pure electric variant carries a simpler and cleaner design approach.

Dimensionally, the Galaxy A7 EV has a size of 4,935 mm long, 1,905 mm wide, and 1,500 mm high with a wheelbase of 2,845 mm. These dimensions make it 17 mm longer and 5 mm higher than the PHEV version.

However, the electric version's ground clearance is lower at 125 mm, or 20 mm lower than the hybrid variant. Entering the cabin, both versions offer a similar layout.

The 14.6-inch touch screen becomes the center of control, supported by the Flyme Auto 2 operating system integrated with Meizu devices. It should be noted that Geely has acquired a majority stake in Meizu since July 2022.

However, the manufacturer announced the termination of the development and production of smartphones in February 2026, which could potentially be a challenge for Geely. The interior is also equipped with a D-cut two-spoke steering wheel, a thin digital instrument panel, and a transmission lever behind the steering wheel.

In the middle, there is a 50W wireless charging, physical buttons, and a hidden storage space. The front seats already support heating and ventilation features for extra comfort. For luggage capacity, the electric version is slightly superior with a volume of 547 liters, while the PHEV variant offers 535 liters.

Both are equipped with the Flyme Sound audio system with a total of 16 speakers. In the powertrain sector, the Galaxy A7 EM (PHEV) carries a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine with 82 kW or 110 hp.

Where, prioritizing high thermal efficiency of up to more than 47 percent, thanks to the support of the AI-based Geely EM Hybrid 2.0 system. The engine is combined with an "11 in 1" electric drive system that integrates a single-speed DHT transmission and a 175 kW (235 hp) electric motor.

This combination allows for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. The Galaxy A7 EM is also equipped with two LFP battery options from CATL with a capacity of 18.4 kWh and 28.3 kWh, with an electric range of between 150 and 235 km (CLTC). Fuel consumption is in the range of 2.22-2.29 liters per 100 km.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A7 EV relies on a single electric motor on the front wheel with 160 kW (215 hp) of power. Energy is supplied by a 58.05 kWh LFP battery produced by Yaoning Technology Group supported by Geely. This sedan is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds, with a range of up to 550 km based on the CLTC standard and an energy consumption of 11.4 kWh per 100 km.
