JAKARTA - Actor Derby Romero enjoys his role as Bilal in the action film Ikatan Darah. His involvement in this film gives more room for exploration, especially in the action genre.

"I always dream, I really want to play an action movie. Until finally I got the Blood Bond, which is the experience, I can say this is one of the best experiences I've had in my career," said Derby as quoted by ANTARA, April 23.

He explained that Bilal's character demanded him to get out of his comfort zone, both physically and emotionally. In a number of scenes, he had to undergo intensive training and perform running scenes in difficult terrain.

"There was a phase where I had to run away from that scene every day, with the up and down terrain," he said.

In addition to physical demands, Derby also has to delve into the inner conflict of Bilal's character who is involved in problems for his family. According to him, Bilal is portrayed as a figure who has the intention of protecting his family, but chooses the wrong way.

"For me, Bilal did everything for his family and his sister, Mega. But it's the wrong way," said Derby.

He assessed that the character is relevant to the reality of some people, including the issue of the sandwich generation who bear great responsibility to the family.

"Many people may have the same intention, to protect their families. It's just that everyone has a different way. In this film, Bilal chooses the wrong path and must bear the consequences," he said.

Derby said he was proud to play such a complex and conflicted character, and hoped that the message Bilal's character conveyed could be conveyed to the audience.

The film "Ikatan Darah" was directed by Sidharta Tata and produced by Iko Uwais through Uwais Pictures. This film tells the story of Mega, a former pencak silat athlete who had to leave his career due to an injury. He lived a simple life until one day his brother, Bilal, was dragged into a huge debt and involved in a murder case that made him hunted by a criminal group.
