Joki UTBK Action Uncovered at UPN Veteran East Java, Modus Arrives Late
SURABAYA - The first day of the national selection based on computer-based written test (UTBK) at the campus of the National Development University (UPN) Veteran East Java was marked by cheating.
The committee managed to secure a female exam jockey with the initials H-Z from Sumatra who tried to deceive the supervisor by coming late. Although he had entered the exam room, the perpetrator's actions were finally uncovered after the officer conducted an in-depth verification of his identity.
In fact, in its implementation, the committee applied a fairly high standard of security and supervision. The East Java Veteran UPN also assigned 30 trained technicians and 210 trained supervisors. Although it was anticipated to be very tight, there were still attempts to cheat by UTBK participants.
The Public Relations Team of the UTBK Center for UPN Veteran East Java, Windri Saifudin said, after the perpetrator was identified, he was carrying out a perjokian action for participants who were going to apply to the Faculty of Medicine 2 of the State University in East Java.
"The modus operandi used is relatively new, namely by coming late and in a hurry when the exam time is about to start, hoping that the supervisor will skip the strict examination procedure for the perpetrator, he was directed directly to the exam room," he said when confirmed, Thursday, April 23.
The supervisor's suspicion arose during the follow-up verification process in the room, the participants' faces were judged to be different from the photo data registered. After a cross-check was made to the school of origin, the true identity of the perpetrator, a woman with the initials H-Z, was finally revealed.
"Because his arrival is close to the exam time, the supervisor immediately directed the perpetrator to the exam room with the procedure of still doing body checking, and verifying documents as a minimum procedure, once the data is the same, we are allowed to enter the exam room," added Windri.
However, when confirming the similarity of the face, the supervisor had doubts because the perpetrator's face was different from the registered participant. Moreover, after deepening the case through verification and confirmation with the original school.
"Regarding this case, the East Java Veteran UPN has coordinated with the Rungkut Surabaya Police, so that we can make an official report to the police regarding the practice of the jockey," said Windri.
It is just known, in 2026, the East Java Veteran UPN UTBK Central Committee serves 10,339 UTBK participants from various regions, by preparing 680 computers and 10% of backup computers in each session.
