Students Say Maintaining Unity is the Main Foundation in Maintaining National Economic Stability

JAKARTA - A number of student organization leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining national unity as the main foundation in supporting economic stability in the midst of global uncertainty.

This emerged in a national discussion forum that brought together various student elements across organizations.

In the National Consolidation and Discussion forum, PTNU General Treasurer Tirta Gangga Listiawan said that interference with national unity could have a direct impact on the economy. "If unity is disturbed, investment can decline and the economy will be affected," he said.

He explained that disruption to national unity has the potential to have a domino effect on the economic sector.

He explained that social instability could reduce investor confidence and disrupt economic activity broadly.

"Disturbed unity can have an impact on reduced investment, slowing the economy, to risks to state stability," he said.

BEM SI Center Coordinator, Muzammil Ihsan, added that the current global geopolitical dynamics also put pressure on the domestic economy, especially through the potential increase in energy prices.

According to him, the transmission of the global impact needs to be comprehensively understood by the public, including students.

Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Nusantara BEM Center, Muhammad Sardani, assessed that the rapid flow of digital information is a challenge in maintaining social stability.

He emphasized that disinformation has the potential to trigger social fragmentation which ultimately can have an impact on the business climate and market confidence.

On the other hand, the National Coordinator of BEM PTMAI, Yogi Syahputra Alaydrus, highlighted the importance of policies that are oriented towards equitable development to maintain national cohesion.

Overall, the speakers agreed that strengthening political, economic, and critical thinking literacy is the key to maintaining sustainable national stability.

They assessed that without strong unity, efforts to maintain the momentum of economic growth would face greater challenges.
