FIFA to sell more 2026 World Cup tickets for all matches

FIFA will sell more tickets for the 2026 World Cup after angering some fans by adding a new, more expensive category.

FIFA announced on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, local time, that it would make more tickets available on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, local time, for all 104 matches in Categories 1, 2, and 3 plus a new "front-of-the-line" price added this month.

The new category sparked an online complaint from fans who said they thought the better seats in the category they had bought tickets for were being held back and they were given less advantageous locations.

In December 2025, FIFA began selling tickets at prices ranging from US$140 (Rp2.4 million) for Category 3 in the first round to US$8,680 (Rp149.4 million) for the final, then raising the price to US$10,990 (Rp189 million) when sales reopened on April 1, 2026.

FIFA did not respond to a request for comment on April 9, 2026, about the new ticket categories added.

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, The Athletic also reported that ticket sales for the United States (US) opening match against Paraguay on June 12, 2026 in Inglewood, California, had declined.

It is stated that a document shared with local organizers dated April 10, 2026 states that 40,934 tickets have been sold for the AS-Paraguay match and 50,661 tickets for the Iran-New Zealand match on April 15, 2026.

FIFA estimates the capacity of the SoFi Stadium for the 2026 World Cup to be around 69,650 and notes that the figure could change.

FIFA ticket sales in December 2025 set the price of tickets for the US-Paraguay at US$1,120 (Rp19.2 million), US$1,940 (Rp33.3 million), and US$2,735 (Rp47 million), and tickets for Iran-New Zealand at US$140 (Rp2.4 million), US$380 (Rp6.5 million), and US$450 (Rp7.7 million).
