Efforts to smuggle methamphetamine to Kerobokan Prison were again thwarted by officers 

BALI - The commitment to eradicate the circulation of narcotics within the correctional institution (prison) was again proven by the Kerobokan Class IIA Prison staff. Efforts to smuggle methamphetamine were successfully thwarted by officers during routine checks on inmates who had just returned from trial, Tuesday (21/4) afternoon.

This failure is part of the implementation of point 6 of the 2026 Work Program of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas), which emphasizes the war on drugs in all prisons and detention centers (Rutan) in Indonesia.

The incident began at around 17.51 WITA, when the KPLP staff officer conducted a body search of the inmate with the initials MA after attending a trial at the Denpasar District Court. The officer's suspicion led to a more in-depth examination, until finally a suspected methamphetamine was found hidden in the groin area.

The findings were immediately followed up by the security personnel. The Head of the KPLP together with the Head of the Security Administration and Discipline Section (Minkamtib) immediately secured the evidence and conducted an initial examination of the person concerned.

Head of Kerobokan Class IIA Prison, Hudi Ismono, emphasized that his party would not give the slightest room for drug smuggling efforts.

"There is no space for narcotics. Any attempt to disrupt the order will be broken with firm and measured action," Hudi told reporters, Wednesday (22/4/2026).

He also conveyed that the incident report had been submitted in stages to the leadership, including to the Head of the Bali Directorate General of Corrections Regional Office. In addition, intensive coordination was also carried out directly with the Bali National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) for further investigation.

Separately, the Head of the Bali Directorate General of Corrections Regional Office, Decky Nurmansyah, appreciated the vigilance of officers in the field. "This failure is not just a technical success, but proof of our consistency in maintaining the dignity of a clean and reputable Corrections," he said.

This success also emphasizes that strict supervision at Kerobokan Prison continues to be strengthened, especially against the potential for drug smuggling through various modes, including when the mobility of inmates from and to outside the Prison.

The synergy with the Bali BNNP is also expected to be able to uncover a wider network, as well as ensure that efforts to eradicate narcotics continue to run optimally in order to maintain the integrity of correctional institutions in Indonesia.
