2 Candidates for Hajj from Soppeng South Sulawesi Batal to Depart because Pregnant and Sick

JAKARTA - A total of two prospective pilgrims from Soppeng Regency, South Sulawesi (South Sulawesi), did not leave because one of them was detected positive for pregnancy and the other was declared sick.

The Head of the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) South Sulawesi Ikbal Ismail said that the two prospective pilgrims were declared to be unable to leave due to constraints on the rules for departure for the hajj.

"There are two people who did not leave, one because they were pregnant and the other was referred to Wahidin Sudirohusodo General Hospital because of deteriorating health conditions," he said in Makassar, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

Two prospective pilgrims who did not leave were Sabriati Sabir who was declared pregnant with a gestational age of 10 weeks and Rahmi Madeng Labbase had to be referred to the Wahidin Sudirohusodo Makassar General Hospital due to declining health conditions.

Ikbal Ismail, who is also the Chairman of the Makassar Embarkation PPIH, said the cancellation of the departure of the two prospective pilgrims was after going through the quarantine process at the Sudiang Makassar Hajj Dormitory.

"This is one of the functions of the quarantine process in the Hajj dormitory, because everything must be thoroughly checked, from health to the documents of the prospective pilgrims," said Ikbal Ismail.

Previously, the Makassar Embarkation Hajj this year was scheduled to take place for 31 days until May 21, 2026, with the return of pilgrims starting from June 1 to July 1, 2026.

The government has ensured that all facilities and services have been optimally prepared for the smooth running of the congregation.
