Indonesia Promotes Beyond 2030 Development Agenda at UNESCAP Commission Meeting
JAKARTA - The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Kingdom of Thailand and UNESCAP (United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific) Hari Prabowo emphasized the importance of regional countries supporting sustainable development, as well as starting to formulate the development agenda afterwards.
He conveyed this when leading the Indonesian Delegation to the 82nd Commission Session of UNESCAP held in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday.
In his statement, the Indonesian Ambassador emphasized the importance of countries in the region to continue to support sustainable development, both in ensuring the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), as well as starting to formulate the post-2030 global development agenda.
"It is time for us to think about and formulate the sustainability of the development agenda beyond 2030, so that it remains relevant, inclusive, and able to respond to the ever-evolving global challenges," said Ambassador Hari, launching the statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok (22/4).
Furthermore, the Indonesian Ambassador emphasized that the Asia-Pacific region, which has been one of the world's growth engines and has diverse development levels, needs to play a role as a compass that guides the direction of the global development agenda going forward.
"Indonesia also emphasizes that the principle of leaving no one behind must be the main basis for formulating development policies. This must be realized not only in the form of commitments, but must be reflected in inclusive policies and have a real impact on all levels of society," he said.
He added that cross-generational and cross-country partnerships were key in ensuring that no party was left behind in the development process.
"In the midst of today's global challenges, we need to strengthen the spirit of solidarity across ages and across borders to ensure that no one is left behind in the development process," he said.
It is known that the UNESCAP Commission Meeting is the highest decision-making forum in the UNESCAP environment. This year, the meeting raised the theme "Leaving No One Behind: Advancing a Society for All Ages in Asia and the Pacific" which emphasizes the importance of inclusive development for all age groups, from young to old.
Indonesia's active participation in the 82nd Session of the UNESCAP Commission reflects Indonesia's strong commitment to strengthening multilateralism and encouraging a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable Asia-Pacific cooperation.
